Accommodations

The conference will be held at the Solstrand Hotel and Bad. This hotel is consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in Scandinavia: see HERE. In addition, their kitchen is one of the finest in the region.

The hotel will not accept bookings directly - when you register for the conference you will be asked to state the dates that you wish to book the conference hotel (you will NOT be charged for the hotel in advance).

All hotels in Scandinavia include a full breakfast in their room rate. Although it is possible to walk to the town of Os (20 minutes) for lunch or dinner, the choice of restaurants is extremely limited. Nor would it be convenient. Therefore, we have  negotiated "full-board" rates with the conference hotel and we have obtained funding to reduce it significantly. However, the full-board rate reflects the cost of having good meals at a restaurant in Norway (that is, about 150 NOK for breakfast + 200 NOK for lunch + 300 NOK for dinner, without beverages (beyond water)).


Room rates for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 July
 
Subsidized full board rates (including 3 meals)

Single occupancy = 1500 NOK per night
Double occupancy = 1250 NOK per person per night


Room rates for dates before or after the conference (before the 1st of July and after the 6th)

Single occupancy = 1390 NOK per night
Double occupancy = 1140 NOK per person per night

These rates include breakfast only.

You can make a booking that includes dates before or after the conference when you register.

We are aware that these rates will be financially challenging for students. Therefore, funding has been secured to assist approximately 40 students - see HERE.

Important: Solstrand Hotel has 130 guest rooms. In 2002, the LFC filled the entire hotel as well as some of the rooms at the only other nearby hotel (see below). We have secured all of Solstrand's rooms for LFC2012. These will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis. If you intend to participate in LFC2012, we advise you to register early.


Alternate accommodation

There is only one other hotel within a reasonable distance of the conference hotel. That is the Bjørnefjorden Gestetun. This guest house has 40 rooms and, for the peak ourist months (that is, June-August) it will be booked far in advance. We will not be making special arrangements with this hotel. If you wait until the last minute to decide on participating in LFC2012 it is possible that you will have to stay at a hotel in Bergen or near the airport. Those hotels are not significantly less expensive and thy are all about a 45 minute drive from the conference hotel. While there is public transport, the schedule is not convenient.
