Poster Preparation Guidelines
Poster presentations will be allocated time that does not overlap with any other conference activity. Poster sessions will take place Monday (4 August 2008) from 18:00 until 21:00 and will be accompanied by snacks and refreshments. Poster authors must be available at their poster during these sessions.
Posters should be set-up on the first day of the conference and will remain on display throughout the meeting. All posters must be removed from the poster display area by the evening of Thursday, 7 August 2008
To accommodate the posters mounting boards of 123 cm tall by 88 cm wide will be available.
Posters should be Format A0 - PORTRAIT (width 84.090 cm x height 118.921 cm)
We will provide whatever material is required (push pins, Velcro, etc.) to secure items to the boards.
Guidelines on Poster Preparation
Each poster should contain the title, the name(s) of the author(s), and the abstract text. This information should correspond to that which you submitted when you registered your abstract.
The following guidelines may prove helpful in the preparation of your poster.
- Use the largest possible type size and bullet your major points.
- Professionally drawn charts, tables and graphics will greatly increase the effectiveness of any poster. Illustrations and tables should be kept relatively simple to maximize legibility. Avoid "artsy" style and keep captions brief.
- Lines in graphs should be heavy. Choose colors that are easily distinguishable from one another. Symbols, letters and numbers should be large enough to be seen from a distance of six feet.
- Contrast is important. A backing of colored paper or poster board for each item of your poster will make it more attractive. Consider using different colored backings to help group your major headings. It's easier to read a poster if the information is arranged in vertical columns rather than horizontal strips
