Financial support for student travel
A total of $2000 will be available for Student Travel Grants for LFC2007. Individual award amounts will be based on need and will likely range from $500-$1000. Grants are available to students in an undergraduate or graduate degree program who plan to present a paper at this meeting and are members in good standing of the American Fisheries Society's Early Life History Section (ELHS). If you are not already a member of the ELHS, you will be able to join online when you register for LFC2007.
Send all student travel grant application materials to:
Dr. Frederick S. Scharf Department of Biological Sciences University of North Carolina at Wilmington 601 South College Rd. Wilmington, NC 28403 Ph(910)962-7796 Fax(910)962-4066 Email: scharff@uncw.edu
Materials required are:
1. Cover letter from student requesting consideration for this travel grant. This letter should also verify that the student is a current member of the American Fisheries Society's Early Life History Section.
2. Supporting letter from student's advisor. This letter should verify that the student is in good standing and is in need of funds to travel to this meeting.
3. A copy of the abstract of the paper which the student plans to present.
The final deadline for all these materials is 1 week after the abstracts are due, however, early submission is encouraged. Applications must be received by regular mail, and if each item is sent separately, the last postmark will be used to date the 'completed' application. Selection for these grants should be completed within 2 weeks after the abstracts are due.
Students who receive these awards will be contacted soon thereafter to confirm their attendance at the meeting. Names of grant recipients will be reported in the ELH newsletter, STAGES. Inquiries/applications may be made through Dr. Fred Scharf at the above coordinates. |
